Music is important to me because it is a way to express my feelings and emotions. In my own experience, music has helped me through many difficult times and situations by providing me with an outlet and allowing me to express my feelings through music. Ever since I was kid, music has always been a part of my life; whether it was in church, at school, or even at home, I would constantly hear it, and eventually, at the age of 12, I grew curious and decided to pick up the piano at first, but shortly after a few months of lessons I picked up the trumpet and pursed that instead. Funny enough, it was not love at first sight, but I didn’t enjoy practicing because I lacked motivation and simply focused on other things (video games). It wasn’t until the summer of 6th grade, when my mom signed me up for a 2-week band camp program in Canyon, Texas, located on the West Texas A&M campus, that I finally decided that music was for me. The seemingly endless performances by professional musicians inspired me to become just like them. Music is important to me because it gives me purpose and a reason to keep going even when times are tough.
